Robin Phelan, advertising director of Farm Talk, has been promoted to the additional responsibility of publisher for the newspaper and its online component.
Phelan said he welcomes the opportunity to manage the day-to-day responsibility of Farm Talk, adding that the dual role offers him an opportunity to improve its content and audience appeal.
“I want to continue to strengthen Farm Talk’s almost 50 years of relationship with the local agricultural community,” Phelan said. “I’m tasked with helping our newspaper and advertisers move forward into digital options and opportunities while honoring the heritage of our print publication.”
In addition to the last four months at Farm Talk, Phelan has been a Kansan for over 10 years, five years in Manhattan as the regional advertising director for Seaton Publishing and five years in Garden City.
A native of east Tennessee, Phelan attended the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.
“Over the last 25 years, I have been blessed to receive a wealth of experience in almost all aspects of the newspaper industry from print marketing, circulation, composing, graphics, product development and marketing for various online products,” Phelan said. “Those skills will be helpful in my expanded role to continue the strong working relationships with Farm Talk’s local partners and readers.”
